The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday (April 26, 2026) announced a tight security plan for the second phase of assembly elections in West Bengal, making it clear that any attempt to disrupt voting or obstruct voters will be dealt with firmly, an official said.
The polling body has directed security operatives to conduct precinct-wise deployments and strengthen area dominance exercises in inner lanes and sensitive neighborhoods to ensure voters can exercise their franchise without fear.

“Under the plan, 160 motorcycles with two CAPF personnel will patrol locations across the constituencies for rapid deployment. Emphasis is on deployment of forces, vulnerability mapping, communication between civil and police administration and ensuring visible security presence in each area,” the official said.
