Chennai Super Kings fans were left upset as MS Dhoni missed his 8th match of the IPL 2026 campaign on Sunday, April 26. CSK fans have asked the franchise to come clean about the legendary wicketkeeper and some are wondering if he has quietly retired.
IPL 2026 CSK vs GT Update
Dhoni was originally scheduled to be ruled out for the first two weeks of the competition, but continued to be extended significantly. Dhoni was part of the training sessions for CSK with batting coach Michael Hussey says the former Indian captain is progressing well with his progress, but they want him to be at 100 percent.
Half an hour before the toss, there was a bit of chatter that Dhoni was not in the team bus going to Chepauk and it showed.
For the match against GT, CSK made only one change and that was Urvil Patel who came in with Sarfaraz Khan on the bench.
Gujarat got Arshad Khan into the side when Prasidh Krishna missed.

WHERE IS DHONI?
Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t miss the toss for Dhoni which made the fans unhappy. Some of them told Dhoni and CSK to stop playing with their feelings. Some of them believed that Dhoni had quietly left the team and taken up the role of mentor with the side and would play no part in the remainder of the competition.
The wait for the fans will now extend to the next home match when CSK welcome MI to Chepauk for the second edition of El Clasica this season.
