The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has said it will launch a protest outside the Principal’s Chamber, Government Medical College, Kozhikode, from April 27 if no action is taken against two faculty members in the Department of Psychiatry who have been accused of psychologically harassing postgraduates (PGs).
SFÚ leaders marched around the campus on Saturday (25 April 2026) and raised slogans against inaction by the authorities. According to the students, all the 12 PG doctors in the department filed a complaint with the primary teacher against the two female teachers who allegedly humiliated them in front of patients and medical and non-medical staff as well. PG doctors are under tremendous stress due to this and it affects their personal and professional life. One of the doctors said that faculty members often threaten to fail the exams as well.
In a letter to the principal, KP Sidharth, president of the students’ union, pointed out that reports of harassment raised significant ethical and institutional concerns that deserved immediate attention. The Kerala Medical Postgraduate Association has also sought action on the complaint.
