The Supreme Court on Friday (April 24, 2026) reported a record voter turnout of 92.03% and minimal violence in West Bengal Assembly Elections is proof that citizens know their power lies in the democratic act of voting.
“Personally, as a citizen of India, I was very happy to see the percentage of votes. In this country, people need to participate… People realize their power in democracy, the power to vote. They know that their power lies in the democratic act of voting. They will not resort to violence,” said Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, who headed the three-judge bench.
