On the northern edge of Chilika Lake Uri lies Mangalajodi, a wetland where the water meets the sky and the air trembles with the rush of wings. The vast freshwater ecosystem is one of the world’s most important waterfowl habitats and hosts nearly two million migratory birds each year, transforming the landscape into a living canvas of flight, color and sound.
This enduring magic finds eloquent expression in Birds of Mangalajodi, a photography volume released in Hyderabad on Friday (April 23, 2026). T. Srinivasa Reddy, Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, described the book as much more than just a collection of images: “Mangalajodi – A Photographic Journey into Avian Splendor is not just a book, it is an immersive visual experience that draws the reader into the tranquil and vibrant world of wetland birds.”
