
The Delhi Jal Board has warned of a 5-hour water supply disruption due to maintenance work. Roosters will run dry at several locations in the state capital on April 24 between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm. It urged residents to store water in advance and issued an advisory listing the affected regions.
In a post on X, Delhi Jal Board said, “To ensure better water supply system, old water pipe in Uttam Nagar area is being disconnected and new pipe is being connected. Due to this, water supply will be affected in some areas from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026. Cooperation from citizens is sought in advance.”
Why will there be water shortage in some areas of Delhi?
The notice said, “Due to disconnection of existing 1200 mm diameter Dwarka water main and commissioning of newly laid 1000 mm/700 mm diameter water main near DDA Park, Kali Basti near Uttam Nagar Terminal, water supply to the following areas/colonies will not be available from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM 24:00 24:00.

This disruption in water supply comes at a time when residents of Delhi are grappling with heat conditions. Warm night conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Delhi till April 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
“Maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 42°C to 44°C and 24°C to 26°C respectively. Minimum temperature will be markedly above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places, above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places and above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places will be marked above normal and at isolated places maximum temperatures of 5°C appreciably above normal (3.0°C to 5.1°C) at many places over Delhi,” said the latest IMD press release.
