Gasoline with ethanol added is safe to use: representatives of oil companies

Representatives of the oil industry in the state clarified that the use of gasoline with ethanol is safe. Addressing a press conference here, R. Kesavan, former DGM, IndianOil; M. Arun, IndianOil Salesman; and NS Krishnamoorthi, a businessman, said ethanol benefited farmers because it kept insects at bay and did not cause damage to vehicles. Countries such as the US, Brazil, Canada and Thailand also used ethanol-blended gasoline, officials said, adding that sugarcane juice was not blended in the production of such fuel. They said the sugarcane juice was not mixed with gasoline to make ethanol-blended gasoline.
