Tempers flared in Pakistan Super League 2026 when Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf engaged in a heated on-field exchange during the clash between Rawalpindiz and Islamabad United on Thursday, April 23, at the National Stadium, Karachi.
The flashpoint came after Amir struck a crucial blow to dismiss Ashraf in an already tense match. The left arm stimulator, known for its aggressive air, unleashed a fireball as Ashraf made his way back.
The gesture did not go down well with the Islamabad United all-rounder, who turned, aimed his bat at Amir and exchanged words, sparking a brief but intense confrontation in the middle. Teammates and players on the field quickly intervened to defuse the situation before it could escalate further.
RAWALPINDIZ FINALLY WINS THE MATCH
Rawalpindiz finally snapped their PSL losing streak with a six-wicket win over Islamabad United. They chased down 138 to reach 140 for four in 18.1 overs, securing their first win of the season after eight straight defeats, despite already being knocked out of play-off contention.
Islamabad United added 137 after a stuttering innings. Devon Conway top scored with 40 while Chris Green added 29 at the end. However, constant breakthroughs kept them in check. Mohammad Amir and Saad Masood took two wickets each and led a disciplined bowling effort.
In response, Rawalpindiz lost the first wicket but recovered thanks to a 78-run partnership between Mohammad Rizwan (45) and Kamran Ghulam (42). After their departure, Daryl Mitchell led the chase with an unbeaten 32, finishing the job alongside Dian Forrester.
Despite wickets from Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Chris Green, Islamabad lacked the firepower to defend the sub-par score. For Rawalpindi, the victory offered late consolation in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
Rawalpidiz will now look to finish well when they face Hyderabad Kingsmen in their last league match. United, on the other hand, remain in third place and will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Hyderabad on April 24 next.
