The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday (Apr 22, 2026) said it has taken “seriously notice” of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “terrorist” and issued him a “stern” notice. Mr Kharge has to respond to the notice within 24 hours, ECI sources said.
The ECI’s move comes after a delegation of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders met the commission earlier in the day regarding its complaint against Mr Kharge for his “terrorist” remark against Mr Modi.
