The Madras High Court on Wednesday canceled the planning permission granted on September 13, 2024 by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) for the construction of multi-storied apartments in the sprawling Parthasarathy Gardens in Alwarpet.
Justice V. Lakshminarayanan held that a multi-storied apartment cannot be allowed in the locality without legalizing the disposition conditions imposed by the Chennai Corporation in 1968 when Menaka Parthasarathy developed the property into a residential layout.
