The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal (MWDT) may soon pass its verdict on the Mahanadi river water sharing pattern between Odisha and Chhattisgarh as the two states have not come up with a concrete proposal for mutual settlement.
The tribunal gave a last chance to the two states to submit a form of settlement by May 2, 2026, the next date of hearing. If they don’t, MWDT will likely use its own formula.
