To create environmental awareness, an eco-friendly green polling station has been set up at Forest High School in Pudur Nadu village atop Jawadhu Hills in Tirupattur district for tribals in nine villages to cast their votes on election day.
Officials of the Directorate of Panchayats, which coordinated the setting up of green polling stations along with the forest department, said that in Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, a green polling station was set up in the hills only in Tirupattur district with a significant tribal population. This is the first time such a green polling station has been set up in the hills for an assembly in the district since independence.
