Karnataka: Distribution of enumeration forms for SIR crosses 50% mark

The distribution of census forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka crossed the halfway mark on Saturday (July 4). Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have so far distributed as many as 2.78 lakh enumeration forms to voters across the state.

According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, 27,821,970 census forms, representing 50.19% of the state’s 5,54,32,314 voters, have been distributed as of 6:00 pm on July 4. The monthly door-to-door census will continue through June, July 2 and 9.

The Election Commission said 1,788,330 enumeration forms (3.23%) have been digitized so far, while 77,624 voters (0.14%) have submitted their forms online through the ECI portal.

100% distribution

The commission also said that 6,352 polling stations (10.76%) completed 100% distribution of enumeration forms, while 5,538 polling stations (9.38%) achieved more than 90% distribution. In the area of ​​digitization, two polling stations completed 100% digitization and seven polling stations crossed the 90% mark.

During the verification process, officials identified 13,859 deceased voters, 11,697 voters who had moved permanently, 2,461 people already registered elsewhere and 433 untraceable or absent voters. Another 161 cases were classified as ‘Other’, while 28,611 cases were flagged in the ASDDO category for further verification.

Highest in Kalaburgi

At 14.57 lakh, Kalaburagi continued to record the highest number of enumeration forms distributed, followed by Belagavi (14.46 lakh), Tumakuru (14.35 lakh), Mysuru (12.32 lakh), Davanagere (11.63 lakh), Chisan (11.48 lakh), Chitraapur (Vijaya) (11.11 million).

Raichur continued to lead the state in digitization, with 1,86,198 digitized enumeration forms, followed by Haveri (1,29,015), Chitradurga (1,27,382), Hassan (1,16,445), Koppal (92,600), Belagavi (91,414) and Ballari (8).

Within Bengaluru, the three GBA constituencies continued to show relatively lower progress in distribution compared to several constituencies. While the North Division distributed 5.12 lakh enumeration forms, the South saw the distribution of 4.79 lakh forms. Central division reported distribution of 4.44 lakh forms while Bengaluru Urban district saw distribution of 8.85 lakh forms.

The CEO’s office reiterated that the BLOs must strictly follow the ECI guidelines by distributing the enumeration forms from house to house. Officials of the District Election Offices (DEOs) where the allegations were reported have been asked to explain by Monday, official sources said.
