Innovate and become job creators, Odisha governor exhorts students

Odisha Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu urged engineering graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers and urged students to harness emerging technologies and innovations to contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Dr. Hari Babu was addressing the graduation day function at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur on Saturday.
The governor said that engineering education develops scientific temperament and logical thinking and enables students to bring meaningful transformation to society. He urged the graduates to keep updating their knowledge in line with rapid technological advancements and explore opportunities in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, robotics and quantum technologies.
With reference to the semiconductor sector, Dr. Hari Babu said the central government provides up to 50% financial support for such projects, while several state governments offer additional incentives in the range of 20-30%. He urged young engineers to take advantage of these opportunities to build innovative businesses and create jobs.
He highlighted environmental concerns, advocated a shift away from gasoline and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles, and proposed that educational institutions set up free EV charging stations on campuses to encourage cleaner mobility among students.
The governor also appealed to citizens to support efforts to strengthen the national economy, including by voluntarily postponing non-essential purchases of gold for some time.
Acharya Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kancherla Gangadhara Rao and urged the students to strive for innovation and compete confidently on the global stage.
Rayapati Srinivasa Rao, President of the College, R. Gopalakrishna, Secretary, and Kolla Srinivas, Principal were present.
