
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday directed the entire government apparatus to be ready to provide timely medical care to those injured in a fire and explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Mundathikode near Thrissur that left at least 13 dead. If necessary, the services of medical specialists from out-of-state hospitals will be used to provide advanced treatment to burn victims.
Mr. Vijayan condoled the deaths due to the blast. A special system has been put in place to closely monitor and coordinate the efforts of police, fire and rescue services, health, revenue and disaster management departments. The State Disaster Management Department has allocated ₹50,000 to the Thrissur District Collector to meet the emergency needs after the accident.
