Abhishek Sharma made an emotional revelation about his father after his stunning innings against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. The left-hander was in superb touch in the IPL 2026 clash, scoring an unbeaten 135 off 68 balls, hitting 10 fours and as many sixes, Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a 47 run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Abhishek spoke about the long-standing ritual with his father that dates back to his 12 days. He revealed that his father has consistently offered guidance from the stands, especially when he’s on the non-striker’s end, advising him on shot selection and game situations.

He added that the same routine continued during the game against the Capitals and said he would like the cameras to focus on his father next time and capture his reactions and involvement in the game.
“I want to be very honest, I don’t know how, but since I was 12 days old, my dad is sitting next to the screen all the time and that too in Hyderabad. He is always there and whenever I am at the non-striker’s end, he always tells me how to play a certain shot,” Abhishek said at the post-match ceremony.
“So it’s still going on. I want one of the cameras to go to him next time and just see his reactions.”
ABHISHEK DEDICATES A CENTURY TO NURSE
After the Sunrisers were asked to bat first, Abhishek reached his fifty off just 25 balls before accelerating further to bring up his second IPL century off just 47 deliveries. The 25-year-old also dedicated his century to his sister, who missed the Hyderabad match due to illness due to an infection.
“My sister is missing because she had some infection. So this is for you too,” Abhishek added.
With his century, Abhishek equaled Virat Kohli’s record for most centuries by an Indian batter in T20 cricket. He was named man of the match and also climbed to the top of the run-scoring charts for the season, amassing 323 runs from seven matches at an average of 53.83 and an impressive strike rate of 215.33.
