Comedian Samay Raina is known for jokes and non-stop humor. However, he recently turned surprisingly serious on the DostCast podcast. He spoke openly about his spiritual journey and Osho’s teachings.
Samay Raina said that Osho’s Ashtavakra Gita series changed something in him. This is a list of approximately 32 YouTube videos. He listened to it while working out in the gym.
The comedian called it one of the best things he’s ever come across. It gave him a lot of peace during a difficult time in his life.

He admitted that living his wisdom every day was difficult. But he said that even experiencing his essence for a few seconds was meaningful. “It’s slipping, but I understand the wisdom it has,” he said.
According to Raina, Osho does not believe in sadness. Life, says Osho, is a celebration. Raina added that Osho was simply passing on the wisdom of the Buddha and Ashtavakra to a modern audience.
The presenter suggested that the Buddha believed that life is suffering. She gently pushed Raina away. The Buddha’s message is that it is desire that causes suffering, not life itself, he said.
When the Buddha gave up everything, pure bliss remained. This realization is central to both Buddhism and the Ashtavakra Gita, according to Samaya.
The thought the Still Alive star kept coming back to was me as a pure witness. Both Ashtavakra and Osho say, “You are not the doer. You are simply an observer watching life.”
Raina went even further. According to him, this also applies to your own thoughts and feelings. You are not your thoughts because you can observe them. You can watch yourself get angry from afar. It means you are not anger. You are the one witnessing it.

He used anxiety as another example: “Instead of saying, ‘I’m anxious,’ try stepping back. You’ll notice, ‘I’m getting anxious.’ Pure consciousness lives in that little gap.”
Samay Raina said that this understanding naturally builds compassion. Every human being at their deepest level is just pure consciousness. Their opinions, feelings and experiences cloud this awareness.
Even someone who hurts you is just an “awareness” on their own path. There’s no real reason to take anything personally.
He also said something profound about human connection. “You and I are the same person deep down. We’re all just pure consciousness talking to each other.”
He ended the thought in classic Samay Raina style. “Then why take anything to heart? So, naacho, be***!”
