The 893rd Jyanthi of Basaveshwara was celebrated with religious fervor and enthusiasm in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana on Monday. The main official function, organized by the state government, was held at Ravindra Bharathi, where Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar paid tribute to the 12th century social reformer.
Addressing the gathering, he said Basaveshwara dedicated his life to building a casteless and classless society. He noted that Basava’s teachings, especially the principle of “work is worship”, remain relevant even in modern times and urged people to follow his ideals.
