A judge of the Allahabad High Court, who was listening, criticized the petitioner’s social media posts attacking his court. a lawsuit filed over Rahul Gandhi’s alleged British citizenship, on Monday (April 20, 2026) he resigned from the case.
The development came from a Bench of Justice Subhash Vidyarthi of Lucknow bench of Allahabad HC hearing a plea filed by a BJP worker from Karnataka, Vignesh Shishir. This court ordered the filing of an FIR against Mr. Gandhi in an open court on April 17. In a subsequent written order, the Bench noted that the Congress leader may be entitled to be heard before any final decision is taken, citing an earlier full Bench decision that emphasized the right of a potential accused to be heard in certain proceedings.
