The Congress on Monday (April 20, 2026) demanded an immediate and time-bound inquiry into the latest killings in Manipur, including those of two children, and called for urgent peace measures, compensation to victims and institutional reforms to restore normalcy in the violence-hit state.
Addressing a press conference at the old headquarters of the All India Congress Committee here, Inner Manipur MP A. Bimol Akoijam alleged that both the Center and the state government had “abdicated responsibility” to protect lives and ensure peace. The party submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate action.
