A female black panther will be released into an enclosure at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), ending a gap of 40 years since the species was last exhibited at the zoo.
The panther was brought from the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati last month as part of an exchange program between zoos. The official release will be conducted by Principal Senior Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, PV Chalapathi Rao, at 9.30 am at the park, the zoo authorities announced in an Instagram post on Monday (April 20, 2026).
