Caring for the elderly is a collective responsibility of society: Minister

Local Government Minister KM Shaji said that caring for the elderly is a joint responsibility of society and the state, not just individual families.

Inaugurating a day-long online workshop on ‘Ageing, Gender and Human Security in Kerala’ here on Saturday, the minister said India’s elderly population is projected to cross 23 million by 2036, underscoring the need for stronger support systems and policies for the elderly.
