Ahead of the Gujarat Titans game, Rohit Sharma returned to the nets for Mumbai Indians after being hit by a hamstring injury. Rohit suffered an injury in the clash with RCB and underwent a scan to determine the extent of the problem.
Although Rohit tried his best to shake off the problem, he had to face the Punjab Kings and Hardik Pandya said that The MI legend will be out for at least two matches. However, in a welcome sight for MI fans, Rohit returned to the nets on the eve of the match and put hard yards into the nets.
Rohit looked to be in good touch as he prepared for Monday’s match, playing some of his signature shots at the net.
WILL ROHIT PLAY AGAINST GT?
Despite the positive signals emerging inside the nets, a decision on Rohit will be taken after the final practice before the match. The former India captain continues his recovery under the close watch of head coach Mahela Jayawardene and the medical team.
“Rohit is batting in the nets in Ahmedabad and continues to be assessed by the medical team and Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach,” MI said in a statement.
In Rohit’s absence, MI underwent a pack shuffle and brought in Quinton de Kock to open the batting alongside Ryan Rickleton. De Kock seized the opportunity and hit 112 against PBKS.
If Rohit returns, he is expected to start alongside De Kock as Rickleton have struggled for wins in the last few matches. After his 81 in the opening match, Rickleton has scores of 9.8, 37 and 2. Rohit has scored 137 runs from four matches this season.
MI are in desperate need of a win as they are at the bottom of the table ahead of the clash after losing their last four matches and have just two points.
