Election campaign for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in Coimbatore the city led to an increase in street litter, prompting the civic body to carry out additional clean-up operations in areas where campaign events were held.
Conservancy officials said neighborhoods with political party offices and meeting places are seeing more waste, with some being dumped into open drains. According to them, pamphlets distributed during door-to-door canvassing are often thrown on the street shortly after distribution.
