The functioning of the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mill has emerged as a key issue in the Madathukulam Assembly constituency, where farmers are pushing for its revival to boost sugarcane cultivation and ensure stable yields, even as concerns remain over drinking water supply and lack of tourism development.
Located on the southern side of Tiruppur district, the constituency is predominantly rural, with agriculture as its mainstay, with sugarcane, coconut, paddy and vegetables grown throughout the region.
