
With temperatures rising across the state, the food safety department has launched a special effort to ensure food safety, targeting juice shops and the sale of bottled drinking water. The initiative comes amid a surge in demand for bottled drinking water and fruit juices during the summer months. Vendors must ensure the safety of the water and ice used in their products, the health department said.
Officials have raised serious concerns about the quality of ice used by juice shops and roadside vendors. Many of the food poisoning cases reported over the summer have been traced to ice made from contaminated water
