
Two fishermen, both natives of West Bengal, died on Saturday (April 18) after being hospitalized after suffering breathing problems due to suspected smoke inhalation from the Beypore port.
According to fisheries department sources, the deceased are Ripan Das, 22, and Sahadeb Das, 19, natives of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Sources said Gunadhar Das, Ripan Das, Sahadeb Das and Babu, a native of Beypore, were part of a 12-member team that set out to fish from the port in a private boat earlier in the morning. Around 5.15 the four of them went to investigate how the water got into the engine room.
