Afghan star Rashid Khan marked a major personal milestone when he announced the birth of his son Aslan in a heartfelt social media post accompanied by a touching first look at the newborn.
The image featured a wooden plaque representing the baby with the words, “Hello world, my name is Aslan Khan,” adding a personal touch to the announcement.
Expressing his joy, Rashid said: “Alhamdulillah. Welcome to the world my little prince,” and asked fans to keep his family in their prayers. The post received warm messages from teammates and associates, highlighting the affection and respect he has in the cricketing community.
Despite this personal joy, Rashid’s influence on the cricket field remained as strong as ever. In a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders, played a key role in securing a five-wicket win for Gujarat Titans. Rashid faced a challenging spell against Cameron Green who batted aggressively and scored 79 off 55 balls. However, Rashid managed to get rid of Green on the last ball of the innings, a crucial moment that helped curtail KKR’s momentum.
This dismissal was significant as it helped restrict KKR to a total of 180, which, while competitive, was not enough. Earlier in the innings, Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj set the tone with a powerful new-ball spell to reduce KKR to 37 for 3 in the powerplay. Even as Green tried to recover with the partnership, Rashid’s intervention ensured the innings remained within reach.
In response, Shubman Gill led the chase for Gujarat Titans with a composed 86, taking the team to 71-1 in the powerplay. His innings of eight fours and four sixes kept the Titans in check. Jos Buttler contributed a late cameo to secure the win with five wickets in hand, marking the team’s third win of the season.
For Rashid Khan, the day was a perfect mix of personal and professional triumphs, celebrating the birth of his son while continuing to make a significant impact on the field.
