The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for six states, including Maharashtra, where the warning will remain in effect for four days till Monday (April 20, 2026).
So far this year, Akola district has recorded the highest temperature in the country at 44.2°C, followed by Wardha, Amravati and Nagpur districts.
