But this time, the star batter caught the eye for a different reason. Kohli, currently featuring in IPL 2026, reportedly ‘liked’ a photo of German model-influencer LizLaz.Within minutes, screenshots of the interaction spread across social media, turning the small event into a viral talking point. Interestingly, Kohli does not follow the influencer, adding to the curiosity surrounding the incident.LizLaz, who suddenly found herself trending online, later responded to the situation. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she said, “It was crazy because I woke up and then I was all over the news.” She also explained how she found out about it: “I don’t even know when he liked the picture, I found out from the news. So many people found articles I wrote on many different platforms and sent them to my DMs. I got so many messages today, people were super excited about it.”When asked later if Kohli allegedly disliked the post, she added, “I actually felt a bit sorry for him!” She continued: “I was so happy that he liked it, but when he didn’t like it, I felt a little bad for him because I don’t even know how it became such a big story. How people noticed it, how they made it news… it probably wasn’t his intention, but I’m still grateful and I appreciate his support.”LizLaz also revealed that she is a fan of Kohli. “I also started traveling all over South India, Goa, Mysore, even Coorg, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and later to the North. And on this trip I got to know cricket as a sport. Before that I didn’t follow it or anything like that. I was born in South Africa but I grew up in Germany where only football is the national sport,” she said.“Obviously it was IPL last year so I started watching with my Bangalore friends. It was contagious. I also became a fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore. And of course if you support RCB, Virat Kohli is the most interesting player to watch. He’s just so good. So I was glad he liked the picture,” added LizLaz.This is not the first time that Kohli has been in the news for similar incidents. Earlier, he briefly liked a post by Avneet Kaur, which also created a stir on social media.Kohli later issued a clarification, saying, “I would like to clarify that while deleting my feed, it appears that the algorithm accidentally registered the interaction. There was absolutely no intention behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
