Former CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Friday credited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and the INDIA bloc for successfully defeating the Centre’s constitutional amendment bill in the Lok Sabha, which he claimed was an attempt to “disrupt the federal structure” of the country.
“The opposition unanimously blocked the proposed constitutional amendment, which the Modi government sought to use to interfere with the federal structure and delimit seats in parliament. This would upset the federal balance of the country. It is a victory for the democratic forces of our country,” he said.
