AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday (April 17, 2026) dismissed as “unnecessary melodrama” Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin’s protest against the delimitation bill and his party’s criticism that supporting the legislative measure was “betraying the interests of the AIADMK” in the state.
Speaking to The Hindu at his Nedunchalai Nagar residence in Salem, Mr Palaniswami pointed out that on the floor of Parliament on Thursday (April 16), Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah clarified their stand on delimitation. Mr Modi reiterated the assurance that there would be “no injustice” to any state, while Mr Shah gave a detailed explanation. “Yet he (Mr Stalin) claims that what Mr Amit Shah says should be written in water. Should we write what he (Mr Stalin) says on flowing water?” wondered the AIADMK leader.
