Reacting to Virat Kohli liking her picture, Instagram influencer LizLaz said she felt bad seeing the RCB star being trolled online. Kohli was back in the limelight for off-field reasons after the social media activity sparked a flurry of reactions online. A simple “Like” on a post with a German-South African influencer it quickly went viral and sparked a wave of memes and jokes, with fans returning to his famous “algorithm” remark.
The interaction involving an older post by LizLaz and photographer Advait Vaidya drew attention as Kohli does not follow the account. Screenshots spread quickly and a minor event becomes a popular topic. Social media soon embraced the moment with humor rather than criticism, with “the algorithm registered another interaction” becoming the main focus. After a similar picture went viral, Kohli went on to say that he did not like the picture.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the influencer said that she was initially happy to see Kohli liking the picture, but felt bad for him because he was forced to dislike it. LizLaz said she is still grateful for Kohli’s support.
“No, I actually felt a little sorry for him!” Liz tells HT, “I was so happy that he liked it, but when he didn’t like it, I felt a little bad for him because I don’t even know how it became such a big story. How people noticed it, how they did it, that it probably wasn’t his intention, but I’m still grateful and I appreciate his support.”
WHEN DID LIZLAZ KNOW ABOUT KOHLI’S LIKE?
LizLaz said she did not know when Kohli liked her picture and came to know about it when the news spread on social media and other platforms. The influencer said that she got a lot of messages and people were excited that Kohli liked her picture.
“It was crazy because I woke up and then I was all over the news. I don’t even know when he liked the picture, I found out from the news. So many people found articles about me on so many different platforms and DMed me. I got so many messages today, people were super excited about it,” LizLaz told Hindustan Times.
LizLaz’s old video supporting RCB went viral after the Kohli series. The German influencer said she is a fan of RCB and started following them last year. The German influencer considers Kohli the most interesting player to watch.
“Obviously it was IPL last year so I started watching with my Bangalore friends. It was contagious. I also became a fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore. And of course if you support RCB, Virat Kohli is the most interesting player to watch. He’s just so good. So I was glad he liked the picture,” said LizLaz.
Kohli is currently in good form for RCB this seasonhe scored 228 runs in five matches.
