DMK president and chief minister MK Stalin the prime minister demanded it on Thursday Narendra Modi provide a written assurance in Parliament that parliamentary constituencies will continue to be determined on the basis of the 1971 population for the next 25 years.
At a public meeting in Namakkal, Mr. Stalin said the DMK’s opposition to delimitation stemmed from concerns about federal balance and representation. He argued that the Union government’s intention was not to empower women, but to strive for “one nation, one government”, which he associated with the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He accused AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami of supporting this stance of the Union government. Consequently, he claimed that a vote for the AIADMK in the assembly elections was equivalent to a vote for the BJP.
