A vehicle involved in an accident that killed eight people near Chilakaladona in Yemmiganur police limits passed through the Dharmapuram toll plaza minutes before the police’s ‘Face Wash and Go’ program began on Thursday.
The ‘Face Wash and Go’ programme, initiated by the Andhra Pradesh Police, stops vehicles at toll booths and asks drivers to wash their faces before proceeding. The program has been in effect across the state for more than a year. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yemmiganur Bhargavi said; “We do this exercise between 3am and 4am daily at the Dharmapuram toll plaza. This is the time when drivers tend to fall asleep. By stopping them for a few minutes and making them wash their faces, their sleepiness will be reduced.”
