The thorny issue of internal reservation among scheduled castes is expected to come up for discussion and a possible decision is likely to be taken during the next cabinet meeting, even as the state government on Thursday set up a technical committee headed by the chief secretary to recommend a possible matrix.
“Dalit Left ministers KH Muniyappa and RB Thimmapur have been putting intense pressure on the chief minister to implement internal reservation at the earliest. The decision is likely to be taken during the next government,” government sources said. While it has also been proposed to provide 5.3% each for Dalit Left and Dalit Right and 4.4% for ‘touchable’ Korama, Koracha, Lambani and Bhovi castes along with 59 nomadic castes under the 15% reservation for Scheduled Castes, a technical committee will review it and submit a report before the next Cabinet, sources said.
