BMTC electric bus hits stationary bus in Bengaluru, 5 injured

At least five passengers sustained minor injuries after a BMTC bus operated by OHM Mobility and a Tata Smart Mobility electric bus were involved in a rear-end collision near KR Circle in Bengaluru on July 4 morning, according to BMTC officials.

According to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), the accident occurred around 8:30 am when a BMTC bus operated by OHM Mobility with vehicle number AQ 4163 was heading from Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS) to Attibele on schedule No. 360B/15. As the bus was moving ahead from the KR Circle traffic light, it was allegedly hit from behind by a Tata Smart Mobility electric bus from Depo-3 with registration number KA-03-AJ-6163.

BMTC said all passengers traveling in the bus operated by OHM Mobility were unhurt.

However, five passengers in the Tata Smart Mobility bus sustained minor injuries and were taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment. Martha. The driver of the Tata Smart Mobility bus was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment. According to the authorities, his condition is stable.

Both damaged buses were removed from the scene of the accident, allowing normal traffic to resume.

Senior BMTC officials, including the Divisional Controller concerned, along with Tata Smart Mobility representatives, rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. They supervised the rescue operation and ensured the immediate transport of the injured passengers and the driver to the hospital.

Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh, Transport Minister Deepa Cholan and BMTC Managing Director Raghunandan Murthy later visited St. Martha’s Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured persons.

BMTC said it is providing all necessary assistance to the injured persons and their families. The exact cause of the accident is not yet known. Authorities have launched an investigation.
