Bishop Derek Fernandes, head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belagavi, strongly condemned the contemptuous remarks allegedly made by US President Donald Trump against Pope Leo XIV, terming them “deeply offensive, morally unacceptable and hurtful to the feelings of millions of Catholics around the world”.
In a press release issued on Tuesday (April 14), Bishop Fernandes said: “The Holy Father Pope Leo XIV’s condemnation of the destructive war is rooted in truth, justice and the enduring values of the Gospel. The Pope is absolutely right.”
