The long-delayed Vyttila bottleneck reconstruction project is expected to be implemented in April-May, with ₹1.50 crore road safety funds being handed over to the Public Works Department (PWD) (NH wing), it has been learnt.
This comes amid continued traffic snarls and chaos at the junction, even after the PWD constructed a six-lane flyover in 2021, PWD sources said.
The allocation of funds follows an order issued by State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) chairman Alexander Thomas, who took the suo motu action based on news reports about the plight of commuters and pedestrians at Vyttila, which is said to be the busiest junction in Kerala.
