An inventory of the valuables kept in the Bhitara Ratna Bhandar, the inner chamber of the 12th century Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, was started on Monday.
The documentation of a team of goldsmiths, Reserve Bank of India representatives and temple priests is being done for the first time since 1978.
A team set up by the Odisha government cataloged 20 types of ornaments on the first day of the inventory. Each item is weighed and documented using 3D mapping.
