The Andhra Pradesh government’s proposed faculty recruitment drive has picked up speed following the release of the annual Ugadi job calendar that earmarks 1,500 posts for higher education departments in state universities, with vice-chancellors stressing the urgency of filling long-pending vacancies and improving academic standards.
During the state budget session held in the first week of March, Human Rights Minister Nara Lokesh said the government intends to fill teaching vacancies in universities, with the process likely to be completed within three months once legal hurdles are cleared.
