India received the highest number of regressive tax recommendations International Monetary Fund (IMF) between 2022 and 2024, according to Oxfam’s analysis.
The analysis, published ahead of the spring meeting of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, suggested the global body was applying a “double standard” by giving mostly progressive advice to rich countries while suggesting regressive measures to others that were “likely to deepen inequality”.
