A 27-year-old fitness trainer died in Bangalore late Saturday night, allegedly by suicide. The deceased, identified as Dileep, was a resident of Vajrahalli, Nelamangala in Bengaluru Rural district.
He was a competitive bodybuilder who won several competitions. He also worked as a personal trainer at a local gym. His family says he was driven to this extreme step by persistent harassment and blackmail by a 42-year-old married woman he met at a gym about two years ago.
According to the police, Dileep and the woman became close during training sessions. Their friendship is said to have grown into a personal relationship.

Disputes between them surfaced a year ago. Both parties contacted the police. At the time, the woman and her husband issued a written apology and promised to cut off contact with Dileep.
Dileep also gave a written undertaking to keep his distance. The matter was considered settled. However, Dileep’s family claims that the harassment never stopped.
On the night of the incident, Dileep returned home around 11.15 pm. His father Ramesh asked him for dinner. Dileep replied that he had already eaten. He went upstairs to his room.
Within minutes, he allegedly tied a blanket to the ceiling fan, made a video call with the woman and showed her the noose before taking the extreme step.
The woman then sent a message to Dileep’s sister Vinutha, who was home on maternity leave. At first she sent casual messages. When there was no response, she told Vinuth to check on her brother. When Vinutha asked what happened, the woman said that Dileep had not eaten for three days and had tied a cloth to the fan. Terrified, Vinutha alerted her parents. They forced open the door only to find Dileep hanged.

With the help of neighbors, the family rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vinutha alleged that the woman was showing her child to Dileep and was torturing him emotionally. Dileep’s father Ramesh made another serious allegation when he alleged that the woman pressured his son to transfer the ownership of their house to her son’s name.
“My son could not bear the torture and took his own life,” The Times of India newspaper quoted the father as telling the police.
The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at the Nelamangala Government Hospital on April 12. Nelamangala city police have registered a case. She seized Dileep’s mobile phone to retrieve the data. The investigation is ongoing.
Reaction on social networks
Social media users reacted to the news from Bengaluru. Many of them cried out in anger and frustration, but for different reasons.
“It’s so common for married women to cheat on their husbands and falsely threaten r*pe after consensual robbing after boredom/breakup. You know 3 bakra gym body body in our group who got fake r*pe case from married women and spent several months in jail before being granted bail,” wrote one.
“He fell into her trap and thought sex with a married woman was safe, no strings attached. Men never learn from other men’s mistakes,” wrote another user.

One user wondered: “Why did he get into a relationship with a married woman?”
Another user wrote: “Su!c!de is never an option. Tell the blackmailer to go ahead with their threat and face it!”
“Most of the time it’s these gym trainers who attack women. Most of them are muscular sims who show a penchant for squatting on women,” came from another.
“Men who are slaves to their lust deserve to perish,” exclaimed another user.
