A week after a brutal attack on a 20-year-old domestic helper in Varthur, hundreds of migrant workers staying in a labor colony along Balagere Road were reportedly forced out of their homes, sparking fears of displacement and alleged rights violations.
The incident follows the arrest of five men accused of assaulting a woman on April 3. The victim had allegedly warned the accused earlier to stop stalking and harassing her. However, on the night of April 3, a group allegedly entered her house, attacked her with sticks and clubs and threatened to kill her, forcing her to reconsider her stay in the city.
