A mix of urban and rural segments, the Thondamuthur assembly constituency is heading into the polls with concerns ranging from the deteriorating condition of the Noyyal river and growing human-animal conflict to gaps in civic infrastructure in its urban areas.
The constituency includes seven urban panchayats – Thondamuthur, Dhaliyur, Vedapatti, Pooluvapatti, Alanthurai, Thenkarai and Perur – along with seven village panchayats under the Thondamuthur union, including Devarayapuram, Thenammanallur, Vellamalaipurtinam, Nakkarai Namarai Boluvampatti and Madhavarayapuram. Parts of Coimbatore Corporation such as RS Puram, Selvapuram, Kuniyamuthur and Sundakkamuthur also fall within its limits.
