Upgrading the Mandya railway station to a “world-class facility”, setting up another railway station at Maddur and construction of level crossing bridges and underpasses along the Bengaluru-Mandya-Mysuru railway sections were the focus of the window route inspection by Union Ministers HD Kumaraswamy and V Somanna on Thursday.
As a key agricultural, commercial and tourism hub between Bengaluru and Mysuru, Mr Kumaraswamy said Mandya needed a modern railway station. As railway stations across India have been upgraded to resemble airports, Mr Kumaraswamy expressed confidence that Mandya railway station will also be similarly developed with the support of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Mr Somann.
