At several places in the districts like East Godavari, Srikakulam, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema, Eluru, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Markapuram and Tirupati received light to moderate rain on Monday (April 6).
According to real-time rainfall data from Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Laxmipuram in East Godavari district recorded the highest rainfall of 57.5 mm between 8.30 am and 5 pm. This was followed by Ramachandrapuram in Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Etcherla at Srikakulam recorded 52.5 mm each. Taduvai in Eluru district and Yernagudem in East Godavari recorded 47.5 mm each, while Rajam in Vizianagaram recorded 26.5 mm, among others.
According to the weekly forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is likely at a few places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, while other parts of the state may experience clouds along with thunderstorms.
Light rain, thundershowers and lightning are likely to continue at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema till April 11. This is due to the presence of two upper cyclonic circulations, one over the west-central Bay of Bengal, off the south coast of Andhra Pradesh and the other over Telangana and its vicinity. Besides, the trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over and around Telangana to the Gulf of Mannar and passes over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu at about 0.9 km above mean sea level, the IMD said.
AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Executive Director Prakhar Jain said that on Tuesday, parts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konasema and West God, there will be light to moderate rainfall.
Meanwhile, high temperatures were recorded in parts of Rayalaseema on Monday. The highest temperature of 42°C was reported at Terannapalli in Anantapur district, followed by 41.9°C at Rajupalem in YSR Kadapa district and 40.7°C at Nandanamarella in Markapuram district.
