A deep-rooted conspiracy emerged in Friday’s gruesome murder of four-year-old twin sisters at Jubilee Nagar near Karimnagar, with police arresting their father, his parents and brother on Monday.
A detailed investigation, supported by a post-mortem report, uncovered a conspiracy behind the chilling double murder, revealing the deep-rooted patriarchal mindset of the accused.
The victims, four-year-old twins Geethamshi and Geethanvika, were allegedly killed by their father Kachu Srisailam (28), a private employee, who drowned them in a farm well in Jubilee Nagar on Friday (April 3).
The incident sparked outrage among the villagers who demanded the harshest punishment for the accused and termed the crime heinous.
Acting on credible information, a police team led by Karimnagar Rural Circle Inspector A. Niranjan Reddy arrested four accused — Srisailam, his parents Ashok and Lavanya and his brother Rakesh — from Gopalpur village on Sunday.
Police said Srisailam allegedly committed the crime because of his aversion to the girl and obsessive preference for the son, allegedly at the behest of his parents and brother.
He allegedly pressured his wife Maunik to have an abortion after scan tests confirmed the twins were female. But she refused. According to the police, the four accused hatched the murder plan and Srisailam executed it.
He allegedly pushed his daughters into an open well. While Geethanvika immediately drowned, Geethamshi struggled in the water. Srisailam then jumped into the well and drowned her.
He then tried to cover up the horrific crime by portraying it as an accidental drowning. The local farmers became suspicious of his strange behavior and beat him up.
He later tried to cover up the crime by portraying it as an accidental drowning. However, the local farmers became suspicious of his behavior and confronted him.
Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam praised the police team for quickly uncovering the conspiracy and arresting all the four accused.
