Cameron Green endured another disappointing outing with the bat and this time social media didn’t hold back.
The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder lasted just two deliveries in their IPL 2026 clash against the Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens on April 6. After getting a wicket to a boundary against Xavier Bartlett, Green bowled the very next ball to the keeper to end another short-lived innings.

The release quickly triggered a wave of reactions online, with fans questioning both his form and his hefty price tag of Rs 25.20 crore. Several users described his performances as underwhelming and pointed out that despite flashes of potential in the past, he has struggled to deliver consistent performances.
A section of fans also highlighted his current role in the party. With Green yet to be cleared by Cricket Australia, many argued that his value as a pure batter did not justify the price KKR paid for him. “Price doesn’t match performance” was a common sentiment, while others suggested the issue may be more about role clarity than ability.
Some fans even suggested changes to the playing XI. Names like Tim Seifert have been floated as potential replacements, with suggestions of changing the batting order and exploring more aggressive combinations at the top.
The pressure is only mounting because of KKR’s poor start to the season. They have already suffered defeats against Mumbai Indians away and SunRisers Hyderabad at home and will be eager to turn things around despite the absence of their trusted spin duo Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy.
Despite the criticism, there have also been some balanced shots. Some fans urged patience, noting that Green remains a high-potential player who could still be good if used in the right role.
Meanwhile, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane opted to bat first after winning the toss, with the team making two changes. Rovman Powell and Navdeep Saini were brought in to replace Narine and the injured Chakravarthy.
With results not going their way and scrutiny on key players intensifying, the focus on KKR and Green continues to grow.
