A couple died on the spot while four others, including their two children, survived after a car carrying six persons belonging to the same family plunged into an irrigation canal at Peketipakala village under Mandapeta Rural police limits in East Godavari district.
The incident took place when they were returning from Kakinada town to their village Velagathodu on Monday (April 6, 2025) around 00:45.
In an official statement, the Mandal’s Circle police said the couple, B. Veera Venkata Satish (40) and his wife Mrs. Kiranmai (36), died on the spot after allegedly drowning in an irrigation canal. Among the survivors rescued by locals are an elderly couple and two children.
The Mandapeta police rushed to the spot and collected the dead bodies of the couple and sent them to the Mandapeta Government Hospital for post-mortem. The police registered the case, the investigation continues.
